Club Jumble Regatta

Glass flat conditions prevailed for the beginning of the Club Jumble regatta today. Five crews of 3 (yes 3) rowing in the explore boats, no easy task getting an explore boat moving with just 3 rowers.

Obviously as this was all just for fun things were being taken very seriously with crews planning their tactics and practicing starts before embarking on the 500m dash upstream from the New Bridge to the finish, just downstream of the Royal Border Bridge. Short and sharp enough to get everyone blowing hard by the finish.

Crews were very evenly matched and by the end of the round robin competition, crew 2 Chris E, Owen and Darcy were tied in first place with crew 3 Henry, Evan and Reuben. Both finishing on 7 points. Interestingly no crew won all 4 of their races.

Everyone appeared to have fun and it was a great learning experience for some of the newer members. A BBQ and bar were on offer after the racing.
