Berwick LDS 2019

Saturday 26th October saw a few clubs travel to Berwick for our LDS. It was disappointing to only receive 37 entries in what has been a sell out series. However those who came enjoyed good conditions, hospitality and racing on a superb course (biased). Andrew and Chris set themselves the challenge of being fastest boat overall, quite a challenge to put 2x against 4x. In the end despite giving everything they had they finished 2.5 seconds behind Tyne 4x who were overall winners. Andrew and Chris did win fastest 2x (4 out of 4). Elvira enjoyed her home water paddle and used her knowledge of the river to win fastest ladies 1x. Andrew O, Kevin, Will and Ziggy put in a good performance for an inexperienced crew passing 1 4x on their way over the 5000m course. Single sculler Robin was unlucky to be squeezed out on handicap but again had a good race. Lee also paddled well but being placed with more experienced 1x was always going to be challenging. Susan and Josie took on their 1st LDS together 2x and despite being very nervous were said to have enjoyed the race. Massive thanks to all who helped and brought food on Saturday, as a small club we could not manage without everyones help so it's much appreciated.
